OUR COMMITMENT

ETHICALLY PRICED

We are all about paying fair prices to the talented Colombian artisans we work with, many of which are indigenous women and head of household. We strongly believe that we are creating unique pieces of art using traditional techniques, preserving the culture and indigenous traditions of many communities in Colombia.

We consider the social impact of our products and seek to ensure that all stakeholders involved in the production and sale are treated fairly and with respect. That’s why underpaying and mass production are not a part of our business model. We also believe that you deserve to wear beautiful accessories without insane markups. Our goal is to create a fair system that benefits everyone involved, from the artisans who make it to the consumers who buy it.

By supporting ethical pricing, you can help to promote social justice and encourage companies to adopt more responsible business practices. When you wear our pieces, you will not only look fabulous, but you will feel great about the people your purchase is supporting!

ARTISAN FASHION

AJ Accessories cherishes the deep cultural legacy and value of artisan communities in Latin America by working with indigenous communities and micro-entrepreneurs who dream of improving their quality of life and escaping extreme poverty by sharing their skilled handcraftsmanship with the world.

We believe in our artisans and collaborate with them to introduce designs that preserve their traditions, heritage, and techniques. We are inspired by colors, cultural symbols, nature, flora, and sparkles. We thrive on complementing your personal style for different occasions. As we redefine the meaning of artisan fashion as opposed to mass production, this is a very rewarding process and for our artisans, the sky is the limit.

Artisan fashion has become increasingly popular in recent years, as consumers have become more aware of the environmental and ethical concerns associated with fast fashion. Many people are now seeking out unique, high-quality pieces that are made with care and attention to detail, rather than simply following the latest trends.

CRAFTSMANSHIP& QUALITY

We want you to love your accessories and live in them for as long as you want! Each piece is handmade by artisans in Colombia who put their heart into the process, following production practices that have been passed on for generations.

We start with the creative design in which we visualize pieces that stand out from mass-produced pieces; they are unique, beautiful, practical, and comfortable. The manufacturing process is carefully executed, taking up to four days for a single piece of jewelry to be completed. The level of skill and attention to detail that goes into crafting a piece of our jewelry is also a key factor in its quality.

Our jewelry is unique, beautiful, durable, and aesthetically pleasing; it is perfect for those who value style, craftsmanship, and longevity.

ABOUT MOCHILAS

Mochilas are versatile, gender-neutral bags that can be used for a variety of purposes, including as everyday purses, beach bags, or even as traveling or gym bags. They have become increasingly popular in recent years, both within Colombia and around the world, as people have come to appreciate the unique beauty and cultural significance of these handmade bags. Additionally, the production of mochilas provides a source of income for Wayuu artisans, helping to support their communities and preserve their traditional way of life.

Each mochila bag is woven by hand by the Wayuu people, an indigenous community living in the northern region of Colombia. Mochilas are usually woven using a traditional technique known as the "Wayuu stitch," which creates a tightly woven, sturdy fabric. This process can take more than three weeks, culminating with a product that is not just a bag of the highest quality, but a unique piece of art that honors traditions, cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and sacred values. You can rest assured that these bags will last many (really) years.

Mochilas come in small batches and in a wide range of colors and patterns, with each design reflecting the creativity and cultural heritage of the Wayuu people. Many mochilas feature bold geometric designs, bright colors, and intricate patterns that are meant to represent aspects of Wayuu life, such as the natural landscape, animals, and spiritual beliefs.
